An eternal barrage of youth- preservation techniques, a lifetime of nostalgia chasing an ever-fading and distancing goal as we slip closer and closer towards the wrinkly grave that awaits us all.


But amidst all of this futility rises the voice of someone who throws a defiant middle finger to the shame of ageing and yells ‘’fuck being young, I’m a peak when I’m sixty.’

Yep, he said it, this man WANTS to grow OLD! 


ANIK, a rap veteran of the UK hip hop scene and founding member of the seminal DARK CIRCLE. He is famed for his work with the likes of FOREIGN BEGGARS, DJ VADIM, LOOP TROOP and many others, triumphantly returns to drop this super-refreshing, self-produced glorification of the once-revered notions of experience, wisdom and maturity. He slings his masterfully-honed lyrics with the swagger of someone who’s clearly put in those ten thousand hours, over a casual but punchy beat with guitar riffs that make you want to scream along defiantly to the chorus.

Finding a home on SFDB Records, who are now in their third decade of existence. “Sixty” proudly follows the “Love Life” EP by CRYPTOCHROME, which saw ANIK return to team up with his fellow artist, lover, performer Una married to label head SECONDSON’s production. Of “Sixty” SECONDSON lauds praise on the track as he’d “never heard someone so boldly say fuck it, being young isn’t all it’s banged up to be. Let’s take all our life experience and peak when we’re sixty! I had to release it, I love it”

The whole concept, enthusiasm, production and fun filled video was just a beacon in this current climate of stale releases, C19 and general global negativity.

“Sixty” is an anthem for anyone who’s sick of being told they shouldn’t be old, and even for those that have yet to get there.

Fun fact: ANIK’s self made the video for this anthem (shot to the background of a particularly peaky Icelandic mountain where he has been living for the last fifteen years) was filmed on his forty first birthday no less.
